Patricia A. Bave
Kommer Bave & Ollman LLP
Patty has decades of experience counseling and assisting individuals and families in taking care of aging or disabled love ones. At Kommer Bave & Ollman LLP, Patty and her dedicated and compassionate team of attorneys and staff, are guided by a holistic approach to elder law. They do not just prepare a Medicaid application, implement a long term care plan, or bring a guardianship proceeding. Instead, they consider all aspects of the individual’s needs and develop a comprehensive plan to bring real solutions and improve quality of life. Often times this can mean visiting individuals in their home to learn what they need to protect their well-being and interests. It can also mean referring the family to other professionals, for example, a geriatric care manager or a home health aide.
In addition, Patty can provide comprehensive estate and Medicaid planning -- from powers of attorney with statutory gift riders, and health care proxies, to Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts, Revocable Living Trusts and Wills. And, if crisis strikes and planning was not done, then the KBO team will assist with crisis planning such as guardianship applications or promissory note and gift planning for Medicaid eligibility, if a love one needs to go to a nursing home immediately.
Patty serves on the Board of At Home on the Sound, an aging in place organization that serves seniors in the Mamaroneck-Larchmont area. She also sits on the Board of the Hospital Readmission Prevention Collaborative, an organization dedicated to educating medical providers and other professionals who serve the elderly and disabled about ways to promote safe and lasting discharges from hospitals and nursing homes. Patty also served as co-chair of the guardianship committee of the Elder Law and Special Needs Section of the New York State Bar Association and in that role co-authored proposed legislation for Protective Orders in guardianship proceedings to protect vulnerable elders quickly and efficiently from violence and threats of violence.
Patty graduated from Fordham University School of Law and lives in Mamaroneck with her husband, David. She has two wonderful grown children, Matthew and Marie.
Patty is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut.
